We got several games going around the Southwest tonight despite the Dallas Stars currently on their way to Detroit to take on the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow night. However we have the Texas Stars and the Houston Aeros hitting the ice tomorrow night.
For the Dallas Stars, the Stars return from a break since Saturday's loss against Phoenix with a back to back against the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday where they have just an awful record in Detroit as the Stars look for answers to get a winning streak going while the Detroit Red Wings have had a rare slow start them selves this season.
The next night, the Columbus Blue Jackets come to town where former head coach Ken Hitchcock will be leading a much improved Blue Jackets team who's looking for an improvement after making the playoffs for the first time in team history last season.
BTW: I'm going to be at the Dallas Stars game against the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday night, so look for a game report after the game.
For the Texas Stars, a 11 game point streak that goes back to November 23 has got them a 9 point lead over the Peoria Rivermen in the West Division, both goalies for the Stars have GAA well below 2 and have given the Stars a double headed monster in net.
Houston is at a .500 record at 9-9-0 and is currently in 3rd place with a game at the Toyota Center playing the Peoria Rivermen where 2nd place in the West Division is on the line and could be in line for a potential playoff series in the spring in which could get quite competitive in the West Division, after the Division leading Stars, the gap between the 2nd and 7th is just 4 points.
Unfortunately for the San Antonio Rampage, they are currently in last place right now without a win that goes back to just before Halloween.
In the Central Hockey League tonight, the Tulsa Oilers have a chance to go on top of the Northern Conference as the Oilers host the lowly Wichita Thunder while the Colorado Eagles are on the road to play the Rapid City Rush.
While in the Southern Conference, We have a west Texas showdown as the Odessa Jackalopes take on the Amarillo Gorillas while the Corpus Christi Icerayz and Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees both look to improve their slow starts.
Later this week, it's a rematch of last year's Southern Conference Final in Odessa as the Jackalopes will take on the defending champion Brahmas while the Allen Americans are back out to Arizona to take on the Sundogs. Finally, it's the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs taking on cross state rival Mississippi.
