U18's
It was another great weekend for the Dallas Stars U18's as they remain unbeaten through 8 games and have built a lead in the Mid-American Division thinks to a 3-0-1 weekend. However, unlike the last series of games in late September, the Stars Elites are taking charge with some big performances. Among them included 4 goals from 4 different goal scorers in the opening game of the weekend as the Stars beat the LA Selects 4-2 on Friday Night.
Perhaps though the biggest individual showing came on Sunday when Tanner Karty scored 5 points to take his team leading total to 11 points in 8 games where he had a hat trick on Sunday against the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes and two assists against the LA Kings Elites on Saturday Afternoon.
Other strong showings came from players like Marcus Ortiz as he scored a goal in 3 of the 4 games this weekend after being held without a goal in the opening weekend last month and is starting to already pass his scoring total last year in 20 games with the Dallas Stars U16 last year with just 8 points in 20 games.
So far this year for Ortiz he has 7 points in 8 games where he is averaging nearly a point a game so far in the Tier 1 Season where after he was noticed after having a strong first half of the season last year with the Garland ISD Stampede in the AT&T Metroplex HS Hockey Season last season.
Another piece is the Des Moines Buccaneers (USHL) Prospect Christian Frey who continues to have a great shot to the season where he hasn't given up more then two goals in any of his five starts. In addition to being a perfect 5-0-0 start, his GAA is a very strong 1.80 GAA and his SV% at .919 is near the top in the entire Elite League.
His backup Sean Lawrence is also having a strong showing where his only game of the weekend was the first tie of the season where he had to fight off an attempt for the Colorado Thunderbirds to win the game late, but preserved a tie when the Stars Elites scored the only goal of the period to get a tie and get their record to 7-0-1 for a total of 15 points and continues to lead the Mid-American Division after playing 8 games so far.
Here's the Scores from the weekend.

U16's
It was a rough weekend at times for the U16 Team as the Stars U16 Went 1-2-1 including a couple of heavy defeats as they went to Michigan to play the different Michigan Teams over the weekend. Among them included a 8-2 loss to Little Caesars on Sunday Afternoon and then a 6-0 loss against Honeybaked Hockey which was part of a weekend where they wasn't much celebrating on the trip back home.
The only win over the weekend was a 2-1 against Comuware Hockey where Austin Runney and Chris Stovall where they were the goal scorers, also among the scoring was Portland Winterhawks (WHL) Prospect Connor Hutchins which turned out to be his only assist of the weekend, he also scored a goal against the Belle Tires Team where they finished in a 3-3 tie.
With the 1-2-1 record, this takes their overall record after 8 games to 2-4-2 with 6 points overall. It's a good thing that the last place teams in the Ohio Blue Jackets and Madison Capitals are still win-less in the early portion of the season.
In the 3rd game of the weekend against the Belle Tires team, a bad start for the U16's as the Belle Tire Teammates Dante Suffredini, Ryan Cusin and Matthew Seidel each scored within 5 minutes late in the 1st period to go up 3-0. Even though the Stars U16 went down, they came back and finally able to beat Belle Tire Goalie Daniel Emandes in the first with Dmitry Maximov team leading 5th point of the season and 3rd goal of the season.
Then in the 3rd period, Connor Hutchins and Austin Runey scored his 2nd goal of the weekend with under 6 minutes left to force the 3-3 tie and were able to avoid their 3rd loss of the weekend.
Just like the U18 Team, the Dallas Stars U16's will return to Tier 1 Action on Halloween Weekend at the Great Lakes Sports Center in Fraser, Michigan as the U16's will be taking on the Mid-American Division Teams. So far through 8 games for most of the teams, it's starting to look like that no body is going to contending for the U16 Title in the Division.
10/15: Honeybaked Hockey 6 Dallas Stars U16's 0 (0-0, 3-0, 3-0)
10/16: Compuware Hockey 1 Dallas Stars U16's 2 (0-1, 0-1, 1-0)
10/16: Belle Tires 3 Dallas Stars U16's 3 (3-0, 0-1, 0-2)
10/17: Little Caesars 8 Dallas Stars U16's 2 (3-0, 2-1, 3-1)
