A Strong Allen Defense with big 3rd period knocks out Laredo

The Allen Americans can now add another impressive mark in their inaugural season as the Allen Americans have won their first Game 7 to advance to the Southern Conference Final against the Odessa which will get underway sometime this weekend. The Americans did with a strong power play to make it 2-0 midway through the game then the Bruce Graham goal with 4 minutes to officially put the game away. In all, the Americans gave up just 21 shots including just 5 in the 2nd period.

With the Americans defense, the Odessa Jackalopes strong offense will have their hands full as the Southern Conference Final will get underway tomorrow night. The Series will be a 2-3-2 format with Odessa hosting Games 1 & 2, then Allen will get a chance to shine in the middle of the series for games 3,4, & 5.

The series would get back to Odessa for Games 6 & 7 to crown the Southern Conference Champions and to determine who will advance to the Ray Morin Presidents Cup Final either against Rapid City or Bossier-Shreveport.

The Allen Americans defeated the Laredo Bucks 4-1 in Game 7 of the Southern Conference Semifinals series advancing to the South Finals to meet the Odessa Jackalopes. Game one of the Americans/Jackalopes Series is schedule for Friday Night at the Ector County Coliseum.

The Americans had a tremendous defensive effort taking a 2-0 lead after two periods with a first period goal from Nino Musitelli and a second period power play goal from Tobias Whelan.

Musitelli finished with a goal and two assists aided by a goal and an assist from All-Star Bruce Graham and two assists from fellow All-Star Justin Bowers.

Chris Whitley made 21 saves earning the win improving to 4-3 in the series so far.

Todd Griffith scored his 5th goal of the series in the loss for Laredo who dropped each of the last two games in Allen to surrender the series.


Allen Wins Series 4-3. The Americans will next play the Odessa Jackalopes in the Southern Conference Final.
