Texas Tornado NAPHL Prospect makes History

When the North American Hockey League created the North American Prospects Hockey League over the off season. It was to have possible prospects to get them ready for the North American Hockey League and beyond to help deepen the talent pool in the 2nd best Junior League in the country.

Recently, Mico Solorzano made history as the first player to make the jump from the NAPHL to the NAHL. Solorzano starting the year with the Texas Tornado U18 Team where he played 9 games and scoring 12 points in the process.

Among the 12 points, his best game came back during the NAPHL Showcase at the Schwans Super Rink in Minnesota where in a 2-1 win over the Green Bay Jr. Gamblers where he scored both goals in the win and took over the game. His 12 points was also leading among defense men in the U18 Division which has 20 teams divided into 4 divisions of 5 teams each.

So far for the Texas Tornado he's played in 6 games with 1 assist in a 4-3 loss against the Topeka Roadrunners. He's also going to be their as a physical presence to the team by already putting 18 penalty minutes in his short time for the Texas Tornado.

About the NAPHL: The NAPHL was created in the summer of 2009 to help players develop to get ready for the NAHL and help deepen the talent pools for NAHL Teams to improve the quality of the league and increase the number of players that gets chances to play college and pro hockey after their junior careers are done.

In all 34 teams make up the league (20 in U18, 14 In U16). As for the schedule, it's done in mostly tournament formats to allow the players to play several games in a weekend and to get evaluated by their NAHL Affiliates.
