The preseason outline for the Northern Conference teams came out back on Tuesday and it gives a quick idea and what to expect for all 15 teams as the Regular Season will get underway on October 16. It will also include the record and a review of how last season turned out.
Northern Conference Preview
Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs (08-09 Record: 39-16-6 84 PTS)
Outlook: The Mudbugs are annually among the elite in the CHL and 09-10 should be no different as 12 members from last year team are back on board along with returning former Mudbugs Ryan Fairbarn, Justin Aikins and John Decaro. The goal tending duo of Decaro and Ken Carroll combined for 17 shootouts two seasons ago and once again should be among the elite netminders in the C.H.L. Head Coach Scott Muscutt, with a solid season, could become just the 2nd coach to reach the 400 win mark in league history (he currently has 357). Bossier-Shreveport returns strong offensive talent in with Travis Clayton, Joe Blaznek, and Tyrel Lucas along with the all C.H.L. defense men Dale Lupul.
Tulsa Oilers (08-09 Record: 18-38-4 44 PTS)
Outlook: It's been 4 seasons since the Oilers have made the playoffs averaging just 25 wins over the 4 years including just 18 wins last season (Which is a team low). New Head coach Bruce Ramsay has changed the complete the look of the team by bringing back just 5 skaters who dressed for the Oilers last season. One of the big additions for the Oilers is goaltender Kevin Armstrong who made the final cuts for the A.H.L.'S Chicago Wolves this fall. The 21 year old rookie got a taste of the pros last season with Ramsay in Muskegon. The Rocky Mountain Rage suspending operations for the year is to benefit of the Oilers who inked five former Rage players including defensemen Tyler Butler and forward Aaron Davis. Another big signing for Tulsa is forward Marty Standish who played parts of eight seasons in the C.H.L. with the Oklahoma City Blazers.
