Lone Star State Rivaly in the AHL

We now have a name for what the rivalry in the Lone Star State will be called the "Lone Star Faceoff" between the Texas Stars, Houston Aeros and the San Antonio Rampage. The name of the rivalry came from a fans vote on the teams websites where it beat out two other names to determine the name of the rivalry.

It's going to be a total of the matchups between the 3 teams during the regular season. At the end of the season, the winner will have earned the most points between their Texas Rivals will earn a trophy that has yet to be seen. Also the other 2 teams will give a donation to the winning teams charity of their choice.

Texas Stars Vice President of Marketing said "We know this will only intensify what should already be a great rivalry between the 3 Texas Teams. At the same time, this event will bring great exposure to hockey in the state of Texas.

Aeros Executive VP of Business Operations Jamie Spencer added on to say "The Houston Aeros are excited to be a part of this new and exciting event. "We play quite a few games within the State of Texas and having a little something to play for is a great incentive for both the fans and the players".

Last week during the season's opening week, the Texas Stars and San Antonio Rampage played the opening games of this event where the Rampage won back on Friday 3-2. Then the Texas Stars returned the favor during the Texas Stars home debut in Austin where the Stars won 3-2 in OT.

So far, the Rampage lead with 3 points while the Stars have 2. As for the Houston Aeros, they will get their first taste of the newly created rivalry this week with a pair of games against the Texas Stars at the Toyota Center in Houston. As for the Rampage, they will travel north to B.C. to play the Abbotsford Heat on Friday and Saturday.
