The first round for the USHL Futures Draft is now set as the league's two new teams in Muskegon and Dubuque going first in the order. If your wondering about the USNTDP (National Team Developmental Program for shot), they don't take part in this process as they have their own method of selecting and signing players and finding out who will eventually play for them.
As for the selection order, it's not based on the previous seasons standings as in other leagues. The rules state, the new clubs will have the first picks, thus Dubuque and Muskegon will be going first. A coin flip determined that Muskegon will be going first.
The rest of the order was selected by a random drawing back in January, meaning every team from the 2009-2010 season had the same chances of getting selected first. Sioux Falls ended up winning that draw and will be selecting 3rd.
