The details are starting to come out on 2 D/FW Area Prospects Camps that will be taking place from July 23-25 as the USHL's Omaha Lancers, and the NAHL's Corpus Christi Icerays will both be in the area looking for possible players to play for them both next season. And in the near future as teams will get a chance to follow others who may not be ready or old enough to play Juniors.
But could be with improvement and some maturing with their HS and/or Travel Teams where they can earn their chances. As more details begin to come out, I will be sure to let you know on both camps which take place in Late July.
For the Omaha Lancers, the team has been very successful with players from Texas recently as Teammates C.J. Ludwig and Ryan Daugherty will be playing together at Northern Michigan University next season along with New Braunfels native & NAHL Player of the Year Erik Higby next season.
Head Coach Bliss Littler has been in Dallas several times in recent years, so he knows the talent and the area very well. For the 2nd straight year, the camp will be taking place at Polar Ice inside Grapevine Mills Mall from July 23-25.
Right now, the team is starting to get the details on how many players will be attending the camp, but for now, a prelim schedule has been released for the players as they will be divided into different teams and scrimmage each other several times during the 3 day event.

The Corpus Christi Icerays are going to be in someways being an expansion team as the Icerays are switching leagues after being in the Central Hockey League for over a decade. They hoping to start making an impact and start competing for players in this area against the Texas Tornado & Wichita Falls Wildcats. Also joining the League this year is the Amarillo Bulls and the New Mexico Mustangs who will also be looking to make an impact on the D/FW Area.
The Icerays camp will be at the Valley Ranch Starcenter which is just a short distance from the Dallas Cowboys Practice and Training Facility as the Icerays will look for the first building blocks in their inaugural Junior Season in the North American Hockey League this year.
Here's a look at the Camp Schedule which will include 1 practice with each group scrimmaging 3 times with an All Star Game to wrap up the camp on Sunday Evening. Can any local players take advantage of the opportunity and possibility have a shot of making the team for the team's first season along the Texas Coast Line? Time will tell.
