Here's a look at the 1st Round Order of the NHL Draft which just wrapped up about 20 minutes. Rounds 2-7 will be taking place tomorrow from the Staples Center in LA.
The big stories tonight is the fall of the top 5 defensemen in Cam Fowler and Brandon Gormley who went 12 and 13 to the Anaheim Ducks and Phoenix Coyotes during the middle part of the 1st Round. Also the 2 highly touted California Kids went #20 and #29.
In this case though, it was the Canadian Junior A Kid from the British Columbia Hockey League Beau Bennett as he won the BCHL Scoring Title with an unbelievable 120 points during the regular season. As for Emerson Etem, this will be a dream if Etem turns out to be a star as the Anaheim Ducks take him at #29 as he's being looked like as the torch barrier for the rise of California kids in Hockey Development.
Finally for the Dallas Stars, they went with down the goalie route as Jack Campbell from the USNTDP with the #11 pick as a record 11 Americans were taken in the 1st Round. Of the 30 picks, 14 were from Canada, 11 from the USA and 5 Europeans which breaks down to 3 Russians, 1 from Finland and 1 from Switzerland in this year's first round.
