Sources: Todd Nelson to be the Oklahoma City Barons Head Coach

According to several reports in the Edmonton Journal Newspaper today, it has been reported that the Edmonton Oilers will announce that Todd Nelson will be the Oklahoma City Barons First Head Coach when the new team starts the season in early October.

The team did announce a press conference for 2:30 PM tomorrow afternoon at the Cox Convention Center where they will officially announce the full coaching staff tomorrow.

Other names that could be part of the staff include Wayne Flaming, Gery Flaming (No Relation) and Kelly Buchberger from the Daily Oklahoman's Ryan Aber who's the beat writer for the Oklahoma City Barons for the news paper.

Todd Nelson was with the coaching staff of the Atlanta Thrashers this past season until the team cleaned house shortly after the NHL Season ended back in Mid April.

According the Edmonton Journal, he was also interviewed to take over the Major Junior Team in Edmonton called the Edmonton Oil Kings where they looking to rebuild after a very disappointing season where the team finished dead last in the Eastern Conference and had the 2nd worst record overall only ahead of the Prince George Cougars where they won just 12 games out of 72 this past season.
