It was announced over the weekend that the Dallas Stars will invite Jonathan Cheecho will be an invite for the Dallas Stars Training Camp that will be starting on September 17. The Stars brought him in to bring in some experience to help out the young skilled forwards like Benn, Neal and Eriksson.
It's also been believed that the Stars are near the end of the rope with Fabian Brunnstrom in the org. and some think that they bringing him in to push Brunnstrom and if he makes the team, that this could be the beginning of the end for Fabian Brunnstrom for the Dallas Stars who after first joining the team with much fan fare, has fizzled big time and even spent some time with the Texas Stars (AHL) this past season.
During his NHL Career that has dated back to the 2002-2003 season, he was a member of the San Jose Sharks till last season when he played 61 games with the Ottawa Senators.

Dallas Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk announced today that right wing Jonathan Cheecho has accepted an invite to attend the Dallas Stars Training Camp for a tryout.
"We're pleased that Jonathan has accepted our invitation to come to our training camp," Nieuwendyk said. "He has shown the ability to be an effective scorer in the league. He's a competitor and we're giving him an opportunity."
Cheechoo, 29, played in 61 games with the Ottawa Senators in 2009-2010, registering five goals, nine assists and 20 penalty minutes.
The native of Moose Factory, Ontario, was San Jose's 2nd Round Pick in 1998 NHL Entry Draft. In 501 National Hockey League Games, the right winger has scored 170 goals, added 135 assists and 324 penalty minutes. He also recorded 35 points (16 Goals and 19 Assists) and 32 penalty minutes in 59 career playoff games.
The 6'1", 200 pound Cheecho won the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy as the NHL's leading goal scorer when he tallied 56 goals for the Sharks in 2005-2006. Cheecho was also voted in as a starter for the 2007 NHL All Star Game.
Stars Training Camp begins on September 17 in Charlottentown, PEI Canada. In addition, the Dallas Stars Ice Breaker is this Saturday at the Galleria Dallas.
