A Texas Brahmas record 5 players have gotten invites to different training camps in the American Hockey League just a few months after the Brahmas beat the Colorado Eagles in 5 games for the C.H.L. Presidents Cup Championship back in May. Several players including goalie Brett Jeager, Jason Deitsch who got a call up by the Houston Aeros and Kyle Deck who got a call up by the San Antonio Rampage.
Other players getting a call up are Forward Ryan Cruthers who's with the Chicago Wolves, while 3 players are going to the Justin Kinnunen, Derek Merlini and Brett Jeager who's going to Houston.
This is not surprising that coming from a team that had great talent that helped the Brahmas dominate the entire season where they finish on top of the Southern Conference with 42 wins and 90 points. Then in the playoffs, they just crushed their opponents at home by losing only 1 home game during the playoffs against the Odessa Jackalopes.
On the road to the President's Cup, the Brahmas seeped the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees in the Southern Conference Semifinals, Odessa in 7 games in the Southern Conference Final and beat the Colorado Eagles in 5 games for the C.H.L Championships.
Even though, all 5 players will most likely come back and play nearly full time for the Brahmas this season, I think that Jason Deitsch and Brett Jeager may be the ones that have the best shots of getting call ups during the season. As for Jason Deitsch, some think that if he can impress the Chicago Wolves staff, he may have a shot of getting a full time spot in the A.H.L.
The Brahmas are excited to have these players get some great experience that can only help the team have a shot of helping to possibly have a shot of defending the C.H.L. Presidents Cup Title in 2009-2010 when the regular season starts on October 16 when they start on the road against the Colorado Eagles.
