Hershey uses no mercy to win Calder Cup Championship
Other goal scorers for the Bears was defensemen Patrick McNeil who scored twice after scoring just once during the entire playoffs. One of the few highlights for Texas was Brent Krahn coming back to play for the first time since his injury. But with the score and the fact that Hershey was on their way to the Championship meant little as the Stars offense couldn't generate any offense on Bears goalie Michal Neuvirth all night long.
As much I hate to do this, congrats to the Hershey Bears on their 2nd straight Championship, they totally earned this one. From the 60 win regular season to Alexander Giroux & Chris Bourque combining for 54 points (Giroux 14G 13A), Chris Bourque (7G 20A).
Everything they did made you think that they were the favorites to win the Calder Cup and they did just that even after coming back from 0-2 down after the first two games.
Also the defense smothering Jamie Benn after scoring 24 points in the first 3 rounds, the Bears defense limited the Stars rookie to 2 assists in the Finals and made a huge difference in winning the championship.
This is an amazing org all the through. From the league leading 11th championship to averaging over 9500 fans a game during the regular season to the way they do everything. They may be an AHL Team, but trust me, they operate like an NHL Team in every possible way.
For the Texas Stars though, what an amazing year to build on to send a message to the American Hockey League that the Stars intend to be a real player in the league. Don't worry Austin Area Hockey Fans, they keep operating like they do and do an amazing job.
This year is just the beginning and you will get to celebrate hockey championships in the near future, keep it up, get more people to follow the team and the sport down in Central Texas. I'm looking forward to many great years for the Texas Stars and will be looking for another shot at the Calder Cup in the near future.
This is for the Texas Stars, continue the great work you did in the first season and make sure your fan base grows and start supporting people that will build rinks in the Austin area so that your area can become the next big hockey town in the Southwest like Dallas has been able to do.
Now with the end of hockey season now here Officially enjoy the off-season and be sure to check out the website for off season news and features from around the Southwest.

Calder Cup Finals Game 5 Gameday
After a great start in this series, the Hershey Bears have been able to respond very well to the Stars winning the first 2 games. In addition to the 1st 2 games, it looked like Game 3 would look more of the same as the Stars were looking to go up 3-0. Now with Hershey and Texas tied at 2-2, the series is up for grabs as we are going to have a best-of-3 series for the League Championship.
John Carlson put the team ahead on the PP which was also his first goal of the playoffs, while Cladue Giroux scored his 13th of the playoffs to come within 1 of Jamie Benn's 14 which leads the playoffs.
If the Stars are going to win Game 5 and regain the series lead. Jamie Benn must find a way to fight off the defense that's been sworming and focusing on him in this series as he only has 2 points in the Final (Both Assists). Can Jamie Benn produce one more big game like he did so many times during the regular season with the Dallas Stars?
Also players like Aaron Gagnon and Perttu Lindgren continue will need to have big games. Jeremy Morin is looking to have another big game after assisting on both goals in the 4-2 loss for the Texas Stars in Game 4 who's looking to take the series lead tonight.
My other big player who needs a big night is Travis Morin who had 2 assists in this game which takes him to 12 for the playoffs, who's tied with Jamie Benn for the team lead for assists in the playoffs this year. He also scored the game winner in Game 2 with under a minute left in the game.
My pick is that the winner of this game will eventually win the Calder Cup as the series will shift to Hershey, Penn. for at least Game 6 on Monday Night, then if necessary, a game 7 would be played for the Championship coming up on Wednesday Night.
For the Texas Stars, this is the final home game of the season regardless of the result so the Stars are looking to end the home schedule on a high and a 3-2 lead heading back to Hershey with a shot of clinching the Cup next week.
Also the injury situation continues to be dicey for Andrew Hutchinson as he wasn't in morning skate this morning and will probably sit again tonight. Expect Trevor Ludwig to get more playing time tonight as he has been paired up with Ethan Graham back in Game 4.
Meanwhile we could have some good news for Texas as Brent Krahn maybe be able to make his first start since Game 6 of the 2nd Round against Chicago back on May 9.
I'm expecting the Texas Stars looking to comeback after losing the momentum like they had in the first 2 games and the first period of Game 3. If they can't find a way to get it back, the Bears maybe on their way to a 2nd straight Calder Cup Title.

A Late Hershey Surge gives the Bears a 4-2 win, ties the Series at 2-2
Now with his 1st goal of the playoffs, has given the Bears a lot of momentum and a guaranteed trip back to Pennsylvania for Game 6 on Monday Night of the Calder Cup Final.
It looked like it was going to take a special teams goal or taking advantage of a major turnover that was going to make the difference. Well it was a power play goal after Too Many men on the Ice Penalty by Scott Mcculloch with 2:39 left gave the Bears a golden opportunity to take advantage and they did just 30 seconds into the PP.
Then in the final minute, Claude Giroux scored his 13th of the playoffs with an empty netter with just 30 seconds left to clinch the 4-2 win and continue the trend of the road team winning every game in this series.
With the series now tied at 2-2, Texas needs to find a way to get the momentum that carried them through the first 2 games and the 1st period in Game 3. I think the winner of Game 5 on Friday Night will eventually win the Championship this year.
Andrew Hutchinson was injured in the previous game and sat out with an ankle injury. Trevor Ludwig took his place and had a -1 on the night. Both Matt Climie and Michal Neuvirth both made timely saves and kept their teams in the game for most of the night, especially when the game was tied 2-2 in the 3rd period.
In order for the Texas Stars to win this series, the Stars need one more great night from Jamie Benn. Other then 2 assists (1 each in Games 2 & 3), the Bears have done a great job of defending him and not allowing him to go crazy. Can he find a way to evade the defenders and help the Stars win Game 5 on Friday and later to win the championship, or can the Bears ride the momentum of late to the Calder Cup Championship for the 2nd straight year.
Regardless of the result on Friday Night, this will be the final home game of the season for the Texas Stars. So if you haven't been to Cedar Park Center to see the Stars play, this is your last chance to see them till the new season starts in October.

Can Texas fight back at home for Game 4 Tonight?
In addition to the Loss, a scary moment came in the 3rd period when Andrew Hutchinson was hurt and had to sit out the rest of the game. Good news is that he was able to skate at the morning skate this morning at Cedar Park as a part of the preparation for Game 4 tonight. The bad news is that Hutchinson is a game time decision tonight to see if he will play.
If not, then it's starting to look like that Trevor Ludwig would take his place most likely as he would be paired up with Ethan Graham according to the Texas Stars Blog called Hundred Degree Hockey.
One thing that is known is the fans, after having just over 7,000 fans at the game at Monday Night, this is showing the city of Austin that the Texas Stars Hockey Team has officially arrived in Central Texas and expect another packed house tonight at the Cedar Park Center.
Like Game 3 on Monday, the team is asking fans to white out the building again and the first 5,000 fans through the doors tonight will get thundersticks to bang together to make a lot of noise tonight.
The Texas Stars showed that they can have a big period in Game 1 and be able to keep it going. If Texas can show the strong first period they had on Monday Night, the Stars should be fine and will be looking at a 3-1 series advantage with a shot to win the Calder Cup on Friday Night.
However, it's clear that the Bears have stolen momentum from the 2nd & 3rd period performances after 2 goals from Andrew Gordon, Kyle Wilson and Mathieu Perreault in the game on Monday Night. A Hershey win would tie the series at 2-2 and would a return trip to Hershey for at least Game 6 on June 14.
Check out the Texas Stars tonight as the AHL will be playing Game 4 tonight at the Cedar Park Center as the game will be streamed live on the AHL Website as well, also it will be on the radio on ESPN Austin & XM-Sirius Radio on the NHL Home Ice Network. Game time is 7:30 PM Tonight.

AHL Calder Cup Fan Chats: Hershey Bears Defensemen Karl Anzer
Topics for Anzer ranged from looking to repeat as Calder Cup Champions, best moments from the season, playing Texas for the championship, making the NHL full time and how he will enjoy the off-season.
From the American Hockey League Website: www.theahl.com
Is they any particular player who you try to model your game after? Bryce from Kenora, Ontario
Without a doubt, I've tried to model my game after Nick Lindstrom. He does everything really well, he's the type of player I'd like to be. He's not overly physical, but he's good with his stick, smart and solid in his own zone and with the puck. I'm always trying to do things just a little bit like because even a little bit of Nick Lindstrom makes a good player, I'd say.
With all that you and the team have accomplished this season, what has been your favorite moment this year? Laurel from Highspire, Penn.
It's a tough one to say. We've had a lot of good things happen to us with a few of the records we've set this year. It's been kind of nice, but you don't get overly excited about setting records. You get excited about winning, so up until this point, I'd say one of the most exciting games have been the ones we've won in OT in the playoffs. You know, against Bridgeport, against Manchester, we've had a few. so all of our overtime games have been awesome. And finally closing out Game 6 in the third round, that was certainly memorable to me.
(Game 5 in Manchester) was a major, major turning point. It's never nice to lose to a team when you come from behind or in OT, so its tough to be the opposing team there. It was nice to see because we were struggling there. We won the first round in five, the 2nd round in 4, and then we were up two and (Manchester) started coming back on us. We hadn't really faced anyone that yet in the playoffs, and i'm not going to lie, we were panicking a little bit there. It was nice that we finally pulled together and showed that we can face adversity, and I think we did a pretty good job of that. It was nice to see.
How has your game changed or improved between this year and when you played in the Calder Cup Final last year? Jess from Monrovia, Maryland
My game has personally changed quite a bit, I think. Last year, I was very one dimensional. I was trying to stick with straight defense, make simple plays, just get the puck out of my zone. There have been many times this year where i've been called upon to do more of that - and that's play on the power play, jumping into the rush, and be that fourth attacker for us, and I think it's been a good year for me. I've transitioned more of a dimensional player, and that's huge for me.
I've learned a lot from John Carlson, and I think we've been a good fit together. Hopefully he's learned a lot from me, but I've definitely learned a lot from him.
Were you surprised that Texas turned out to be your opponent in the Calder Cup Finals, and does the fact that you guys didn't play one another during the regular season change your preparation for them at all heading into the Championship? J.D. from Georgetown, Texas
I think it changes a little bit, yeah, just because we have to rely on watching video of them and watching how other teams played them, and not all teams play the same system. So it's kind of hard to judge just how they would react to what we do. In that sense, it is a little different, but at the same time our coaches watch a ton of video and they're really good at breaking down clips. Hopefully we'll all get in our heads and know what we're supposed to be doing out there.
As far as being surprised, not really. They have a lot of good players - a solid, solid back end, a lot of good players up front and they have a hot goalie a hot two goalies, really. I know their starter (Brent Krahn) was hurt, but when you have a back up (Matt Climie) come in and play the way he's been playing, that's always nice. And a goalie can win you a series and can win you a championship. I wouldn't say i'm surprised at all. It was nice to see a good battle between them and Hamilton, and hopefully that took a little bit out of them, but a 10 day break is enough time to recover.
Jamie Benn is the AHL's leading playoff scorer with 14 goals and 24 points in 18 games. How do you and the other defensemen play to reduce Benn's impact during the Calder Cup Finals? David from Chicago
The thing is, we gotta watch what he does in the offensive zone. Obviously, he's been a big, big part of the offense. So, i've just been talking to the coaches a little bit about what he does and his tendencies, that sort of thing. For us, we need to make sure we take away his time and space. We can't give him enough time to release the puck. We know he's good at finding those soft areas, so for us, we just have to have our eye on him, and we make sure that when we go into battles with him, we're going in strong and not taking him too lightly. There's a reason why he played in the NHL all season - he's definitely doing what he's supposed to do, and it'll be a good challenge for us.
You guys have come back on numerous occasions this postseason to win games in which you were trailing heading into the third period. What has the atmosphere and mindset been in the locker room during the second period intermissions of these games where you've been trailing? Bruce from Halifax, Penn.
Guys get pumped up real easily there. We don't like to lose games, we don't like to be down, and it's been a common trend for us to have pretty decent third periods and pretty good third periods. We always want to make sure that we're a force there and make sure teams know that we're not going to give up there, especially when were down like that. It's also a good sign, it shows that we're willing to battle through it. We wouldn't really like to get ourselves into that position if we don't have to, but sometimes there's not much you can do, and it'll happen.
We're a team that doesn't give up, and in the dressing room we have a lot of older guys, a lot of leaders, that'll speak up, and it really helps us get going. And obviously our coaches - they seem to have some good speeches, they know what to say at the right time, and they get us fired up.
What has the team tired to stay focus during the playoffs the couple of unusually long layoffs that you guys have had during the playoffs? Kevin from Boston
This might sound a little bit opposite of what people would think, but we're staying focused on by getting our minds completely off the game. What I mean by that is, guys will go out golfing, if they live close enough they might go home, New York City, something like that. For instance, my girlfriend and I went to Florida after the Albany Series. It's nice to recharge because it's a lot of hockey. It's a long, long season, and a very long playoffs, so its nice at that point, it's like a fresh start when you come back.
Our coaches gave us, I think, four days off, and then a couple practices and another day off. It's a good way to do things I think, because guys come back raring to go. You don't like dealing with a break like that, but if you do, you have to really have to make the best of it.
How much do you think winning the Calder Cup once - let alone twice if your able to do it again this year - will help you prepare to eventually go on a Stanley Cup run in the NHL? Zach from Annville, Penn
It doesn't matter where you win a championship, it always helps. Knowing what it takes to get through a playoffs - 4 series, it's a long time - so just knowing the feeling you have after you win one series, two series, three series You definitely have a different feeling, a different mindset, because it's different mindset, because it's difficult to battle through the good weather, and your buddies calling you saying, "Oh i'm starting to to work out now" or "Summer Break is so nice."
It's just getting over the metal block that you can sometimes get, and at the same time knowing what it takes to win. There are a lot of sacrifices, a lot of playing through injuries, and you have to be able to get through your head right and make sure you can stick with it for that long of a run.
The Bears have obviously enjoyed a trendmous record at the Giant Center All Season long... How much of an impact do the fans from Hershey have on this level of enthusiasm that the team plays? Tyler from Landcaster, Penn.
They have a big impact. We always seem to have a lot of energy, and it's always nice to come out for warm ups and see fans there as well as the beginning of the game, because you want to have a good sign. If you can back the (opponent) up into a right corner, it's usually a good sign for your team.
There's been times where they've been on the other team so hard that it's actually kind of funny to watch because the referee has to come over and stop the game. At times it's really good, and at times you have just have to sit back and laugh and say, "Oh man, I wonder what it would it be like to play against these fans". It's definitely something different then what I've seen. They love their team, and we're happy about that.
From your perspective as a player, how impressive is that a small town like Hershey consistently leads the AHL in attendance and continues to pack the arena in the playoffs? Jeremy from Lebanon, Penn.
Yeah, it's nice. It's nice to see all the other surrounding towns come out and supporting us as well. It's a lot like where I have come from, Burnaby, B.C., we have a lot of cities that are right beside it, and when you can draw from all those cities, it really helps.
It's nice to see that they keep coming back game in and game out, even though sometimes we don't play our best game. They're still there the next game, and that's really huge for us. It's funny usually those small towns have the best fans. They're so die-hard - it's one of the many attractions. I know there are other important things going in Hershey - Hershey Park and other stuff - but it's nice to see that they come out and support us.
As the long hockey season wears on, do you find yourself needing to make any adjustments in terms of conditioning or keeping mental focus? Josh from Richard, Penn.
Yeah, for sure. Towards the end of the year, your body is starting to wear down a little bit. You try to get in the gym as you can and do whetever possible to keep your body in shape, because it's easy to see as the season wears on, you tend to get a little soft in the midsection or whetever. When you don't get in the gym that often, it's tough to keep it up.
But since we've had so much time off, it's almost like we're getting back into shape. We get to play those 15, 20, 25 minutes, it really wears on the body. You get in the gym when you can, and you listen to your body. Hopefully everybody knows their body pretty well, and when it tells them to take a day off, you take a day off.
Who are some of your best friends on the Bears, and who has given you the most guidance? Megan from Lebanon, Penn.
I hang out with Jay Beagle quite a bit. He's from Calgary, and I've spent a fair amount of time in Calgary, so we can relate a little there. At one of the houses, some of the guys live above an ice cream store, King Cone. I hang out with those guys a lot - that's Patrick Wellar, John Carlson, Branden Holtby and Sean Collins. It's us and Zach Miskovic, I hang out with them quite a bit.
We've got a lot of good guys, it's easy to go hang out with anybody on the team. But when we go golfing or when we play board games or whetever, it's usually those guys.
What has it been like playing on the Bears with a veteran captain like Brian Helmer, someone who has been around awhile and won his first Calder Cup 15 years ago? David from Newcastle, Ontario
It's really nice to play with Helms. He's got so many years under his belt in this league, and he's been through pretty much everything. He's had a lot of success here, so it's just nice to see and nice to hear what he has to say. And when he does say something in the room, if we're down or not playing our best he speaks up, you know its from the heart and you know it's serious. You always have to take a second to listen to what he says because there aren't too many things that come out of his mouth that aren't going to help you. He's a good captain to have.
Describe the atmosphere of playing in the NHL while you set up in Washington this year, and especially in Game 7 of the first round series vs. Montreal? Jordan from Winnipeg, Manitoba
Washington was awesome. It was so electric in that building, so loud and so different. The first time I watched a playoff game in the NHL in person was actually the year before when I got called up and watched the Caps play Pittsburgh. But to be in one is just a different feeling.
It's tough to play because so much is on the line and everybody's trying so hard, but at the same time they don't take so many chances. You don't want to take that once chance that maybe turns the game around and you could lose it. That's one thing I was thinking about quite a bit different when I was there. But for the coaches to have the confidence to play me in that situation was really, really nice to see, and i'm happy that I had a pretty decent game.
Describe the chemistry that has existed all season between yourself in defensive partner John Carlson. How do you think that might have translate if you two are eventually paired together in Washington? Doug from Ashburn, Virginia
Well it's nice to play with somebody who's around the same age you because it's just a little bit more relaxing. Me and Carly have been playing for a little bit now, and I think it's a good match up. He's offensive, i'm a little bit more defensive, and we read off each other really well. It's nice to mesh, and also like I said earlier, I've been learning a lot from him along the way. So i'm hoping he's a guy I get to stick with for a few years to come here because I think it'll work out really well.
Assuming that your number one goal for next season is to make the Capitals full time next season, do you have additional goals in terms of development you'd like to make your game, either offensively or defensively? Dale from Ganesville, Virginia
Oh yeah, I definitely want to become more of a well rounded player. I want to be tough to play against - I don't want to have forwards on other teams saying "Oh, we get to go against Alzner, he's easy to play against," because that's definitely not a good position you want to get yourself into. So I just want to make sure i'm just a little bit tougher and get some good consistency going, and I like said earlier, just play a little more offensive, chip in every now and then on the scoresheet, and help the team succeed. I want to be a part of a winning team, and that's the main goal.
What are some things you like to do in your free time and during the offseason? Tim from Worcester, Mass
I think it's pretty common with every player - I like to go golfing, really like to be outside on the course, as well as working out. We have a really good group of guys who I work out with back at home, and it's a program I've been doing since I was about 14 years old, so it's a nice fit for me there.
My girlfriend and I live in Vancouver, and it's a pretty nice area there. We get to go out on the water, hang out at the beach, and we have a couple bikes that we like to cruise around on whenever we get a chance. I'm a pretty big outdoors guy, so whenever I can be out there, I'm usually in my element.
Hershey has huge 2nd & 3rd periods to win 6-3, cuts series lead to 2-1
Other huge Hershey nights came from Keith Aucoin, Chris Bourque and Karl Azner each had two assists last night in the big win to keep the Bears in the series.
Matt Climie definitely had his worst performance this year as he gave up 6 goals including 5 in the last 40 minutes. While Hershey Goalie Michal Neuvirth came back very well after the rocky start and the Bears were blocking shots left and right including one that was blocked by Bears defensemen John Carlson that allowed the team in Chocolate and white to set up a goal by Andrew Gordon early in the 3rd that took a 4-3 lead for Hershey and never looked back after that.
No worries for the Stars though as the Stars are still leading the series 2-1. This does mean that Game 5 is now on for Friday Night at Cedar Park Center.
Also great job by the fans as the team set a record crowd of 7014 for the night for the team's first season. This sets up well for the team to have a great atmosphere to bring the Stars back, and help them win on both Wednesday & Friday night as the team's quest for their 1st ever Calder Cup continues.
Also don't forget to wear white as the Stars are continuing the white out for the rest of the Championship Series.

Texas forward Travis Morin scored the game winning goal with 46 seconds remaining in the contest, giving the Stars the victory and a 2-0 series lead heading home for Game 3 on Monday at Cedar Park Center.
Forwards Aaron Gagnon and Mathieu Beaudoin also scored as Texas improved to 8-4 on the road in the playoffs. Stars defensemen Garrett Stafford also netted a goal, as Texas handed Hershey the first set of back-to-back regulation losses at home this year (playoffs and regular season). Texas Goalie Matt Climie made 25 saves, helping the team to its fourth straight road victory.
Hershey forwards Steve Pinizzotto, Andrew Gordon and Francois Bouchard each scored in the loss. Hershey Goalie Michal Neuvirth stopped 19 Texas Saves in the defeat. Texas will host Game 3 of the Calder Cup Finals on Monday Night at 7:30 PM at Cedar Park Center.
In the first period, Texas struck for the game's opening goal just one minute into the contest. Right wing Colton Sceviour tipped the puck at center ice to Aaron Gagnon. The Stars center took off on a breakaway and snuck a shot between the legs of Hershey Goalie Michal Neuvirth for his seventh goal of the playoffs and a 1-0 lead.
Hershey countered with a shorthanded goal at 7:40. Winger Steve Pinizzotto picked a puck at the Hershey Blue-line and lead a two-on-one rush back into Texas Territory. Forward Francois Bouchard blasted a one-timer from the high slot, beating Texas Goalie Matt Climie on the stick side for his fourth goal of the playoffs. Hershey defensemen Patrick Wellar and forward Ashton Rome picked up the assist on the Bears second goal of the night.
In the 3rd period, the Stars pushed ahead with a 3-2 lead after a goal by Mathieu Beaudoin at 3:18 of the final frame. Center Perttu Lindgren split the defense and slipped a pass to Beaudoin. The Texas winger finished off the play, beating Michal Neuvirth for his fourth goal of the playoffs and the team's third tally of the night.

Texas charged back to take the lead in the last minute. Forward Scott Mcculloch threw the puck into the Hershey zone, banking the puck off the boards.
Stars forward Travis Morin scooped up the puck and snapped the backhand shot to the Hershey net. The puck deflected off Bears Goalie Michal Neuvirth and into the net for the game-winning goal and a 4-3 final.

Texas gives Hershey first Home Loss of the playoffs, Wins Game 1 2-1
After Hershey's Francois Bouchard scored to make it 1-0 early in the 2nd. Texas has comeback like they have done so many times in this year's playoffs as they tied at it 1-1 at the halfway mark of the game with Winger Greg Rallo scoring only his 2nd goal of the playoffs. After some great back-and-fourth action. Shaun Mcculloch gave the Stars a 2-1 lead early in the 3rd and Climie would stopped all 12 Hershey shots in the 3rd period to give the team a 2-1 win in Game 1 of this year's Final.
In addition to Hershey's first home playoff loss this year, the Stars won their 3rd road playoff game in a row and 7th overall of this year's playoffs.
As for Jamie Benn, he's looking to break the AHL Rookie Playoff Record for Goals with 14 that was set back in 1982.

After a 4 game sweep of Rockford in the 1st round, the Texas Stars ousted Chicago with a game 7 OT Victory in the division finals before stunning Hamilton with road wins in Game 6 & 7 of the Conference Finals to claim the Robert W. Clark Trophy as the Western Conference Champions.

Hershey's four appearances in five years coincide with the beginning of their affiliation with the Washington Capitals in 2005. The Bears have won seven straight playoff series, tied for the longest streak in AHL History. Hershey's 22 finals appearances overall are a league record, as are their 10 championships. Hershey finished first overall during the regular season in goals scored, power play efficiency and penalty killing, and was tied for 2nd (with Texas) in goals against. Calder Cup on XM & Sirus Satellite Radio
The American Hockey League announced on Friday that the 2010 Calder Cup Finals will be carried live on the all Hockey NHL Home Ice channel on XM/Sirus Satellite Radio.
The 2010 Calder Cup Finals are pitting the Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals Affiliate) and the Texas Stars (Dallas Stars Affiliate) for the 2010 American Hockey League Calder Cup Championship.
The two rosters feature 19 players who skated in the 2009-2010 National Hockey League Season, including the 2009 AHL Calder Cup Playoff MVP Michal Neuvirth for Hershey and Jamie Benn who's leading the AHL Playoff Scoring after having a great rookie season for the Stars.
All 7 games are scheduled to be on the NHL Home Ice Channel for the most part. The only excpetions are Games 4 & 5 as NHL Games could be scheduled those nights as that would be Games 6 & 7 for the Stanley Cup Championship.
If your wondering about TV Coverage, the Texas Stars were unsuccessful in getting a TV Deal together in time for the AHL Calder Cup Title. The reasons were timeing and money as the schedule didn't come out in time to get a TV Schedule going on any network.
Hopefully with the success the team has had this season, the Stars are looking around for TV Deals in the near future in the Austin Area and around the rest of the Southwest part of the country.
Series Subplots
Texas rookie Jamie Benn needs one more goal to set the AHL Record for most goals by a rookie in the postseason. Benn is currently tied with Stan Mckenna who scored 14 goals in the 1983 AHL Calder Cup Playoffs.

Hershey is 8-0 at home in the playoffs and have taken 36 of the last 37 games on home ice, dating all the way back to November 28 against the Adirondack Phantoms when they were beat in a SO.

Texas Come's back to Stun Hamilton & Advance to the Calder Cup Championship
However, the 3rd period began as the Stars found new life to comeback in this game as Mathieu Beaudoin scored near the midway point of the 3rd period to comeback to tie the game at 2-2.
Then the Stars put it away with goals from Perttu Lindgren and Jamie Benn's playoff leading 14th of the playoffs with just under 90 seconds left to win 4-2 and win the Western Conference Title in 7 games over the North Division Champion Hamilton Bulldogs.
Now the Stars will have to wait a week as they will now get a chance to get some rest before heading to Hershey, Penn. for the start of the AHL Calder Cup Finals against the defending League Champion Hershey Bears which will start on June 3.
Regardless of how the league championship series goes, this has been a surreal season for the Stars to have this much success for the Texas Stars this year.

AHL Calder Cup Championship Schedule
And it will get going on June 3 as the team will have nearly a week off to get ready for the Calder Cup Final against the Hershey Bears which will be Hershey, Pennsylvania who's looking to win their 3rd Calder Cup Title in the last 5 seasons against a team that's looking to win the Calder Cup in their first season in the AHL.
In the scoring battle, it will be Jamie Benn who's leading the AHL Calder Cup Playoffs with 14 goals and is looking for more to help win the Championship. Hershey will respond with the 1-2 punch of Alexander Giroux and Andrew Gordon who have 10 & 12 goals each. As a part of a team that lead the league in scoring during the season in scoring with 342 during the regular season.
Texas had a great defense going into the postseason by giving up just under 2.50 a game. But their defense is getting tested as Texas as the Bears have had a strong offense all year. Texas is also hoping that Brent Krahn can comeback since he's been out of the lineup since he went out with an injury in Game 6 of the Chicago Series.
Hershey has been lead in net as Michal Neuvirth has been taking control of the playoffs with a 2.13 GAA as he has given up 3 or more goals just 3 times in the postseason. He doesn't have any shutouts, but he's been a strong net-minder in the playoffs this year.
So will it be the Veteran team that is looking for a 3rd title in 5 seasons (2006 & 2009) as the Bears will look to make it 11 Calder Cups in team history which is the most in AHL History. Or will it be the Texas Stars looking to shock the world by winning in their first season down in Texas?
We will find out when the series begins on 6/3 in Hershey, Penn.
Here's a look at how both teams got to the AHL Calder Cup Championship and some of their scoring leaders and how the goaltending has been doing in the playoffs that have gotten the Texas Stars & Hershey Bears in the Final.
