Dallas Stars Power Rankings

Here's the comments and rankings from the Dallas Stars as the week 2 editions of this seasons power rankings are released. The Stars continue to impress and all 3 major websites that do power rankings (Fox Sports, ESPN & The Hockey News) have the Stars in the top 5 and if they can continue this great start which has featured 3 OT Games already, they could have the possibility of being one of the big surprises of the NHL This season.

ESPN: Dallas ranked 5th, OK OK...   I can't totally ignore early season perfection. Brad Richards (UFA on July 1) has been on fire, and so has goaie Kari Lehtonen, who is the masked man that Joe Nieuwendyk is gambling on to turn around the fortunes of the franchise.


FSN Sports Net:  Dallas Ranked 2nd, The Stars two wins in week two kept the club perfect coming into play this week. Brad Richards had five points and one shootout goal in the two Dallas Wins.


The Hockey News:  Dallas Ranked 5th, Only Anaheim has averaged more shots allowed then the Stars. (38.0).

NHL Power Rankings

The first editions of the NHL Power Rankings have come out after the opening weekend of the NHL Season. For the most part, the Dallas Stars have had some great comments about the team after strong OT Wins over the New Jersey Devils and the NY Islanders.

If the Stars can continue it over the first couple of home games. Hopefully that this can show the league that the Stars can be what the Coyotes did last year under a lot of circumstance and criticism that they had to overcome last season to make the playoffs before losing to Detroit in a very close first round series.

Dallas Stars Ranked #3: "Who knows how long can stay at this lofty perch, but kudos to coach Marc Crawford for helping his team earn two straight road wins in New Jersey and Long Island out of the gate. Who knows? It may help spur the rest of the team, if nothing else.


Fox Sports by Robert Picarello

Dallas Stars Ranked #5: Dallas needed extra hockey in its first two games to pick up all four points that were on the table in week 1. Brad Richards helped the Stars get off to their first 2-0 start since 2006, collecting 4 points (1G 3A) in his teams first two wins of the year.
